About CODE

So no part of the problem falls between disciplines.

CODE is a multidisciplinary team working in South Africa and Zimbabwe. We have taught, researched, written grants and delivered projects in universities, colleges and rural communities across the region.

Vision

An Africa in which universities, organisations, industry and communities collaborate to advance sustainable agriculture, strengthen climate resilience and improve food security and rural livelihoods.

Mission

To make sustainable agriculture a reality, not just a theme, by equipping institutions and communities with the partnerships, skills, funding and technology to grow more food, use water and energy wisely, adapt to a changing climate and earn more.

The CODE emblem: four figures rising together from one root

Our emblem

Rising together from one root.

Our emblem shows a family, elders and young people rising together from one root. That is how we see this work: knowledge passed between generations, and partners holding each other up.

Our expertise

Four disciplines, one team.

Agriculture
Climate-smart crops, regenerative and conservation agriculture, agroforestry, apiculture, aquaculture, livestock health and extension.
Environmental and chemical engineering
Water reuse, rainwater harvesting, water quality and sanitation, composting and biogas.
Electrical engineering
Solar energy, solar-powered irrigation, automation and sensor monitoring.
Digital product design
Farmer advisory tools, data platforms and project monitoring systems.

Take the first step with us.

Sustainable agriculture will not be achieved by any one institution or discipline alone. Let’s meet to explore how your institution can lead and benefit from a regional partnership.
